Empty Nest Syndrome


A general feeling of loneliness that parents or guardians may feel when one or more of their children leave home.

Practical Tips

  1. Focus on the benefits to your child’s life of moving out and on in their life.
  2. See this as a new era for you and for them, embrace it with excitement and enthusiasm.
  3. Share you thoughts with someone close to you (other than your child).
  4. Write your child a letter, expressing your love and gratitude for having  them over the last ‘x’ years.

Beliefs and Affirmations

I am able to connect emotionally where ever my children are in the world, to the degree I feel content that they are happily getting on with their life’s journey.


(How to make it very HARD to feel the negative emotion)

The only time I will allow myself to feel…………..the Empty Nest Syndrome, is when I don’t feel the emotional connection, where ever they are in the world.
