First, is the awareness of WHAT you would like the Relationship to look like; feel like; be like. Know what YOU need to change about YOU!
What character traits do you need to develop; eg. Assertiveness, Self Awareness, Ruthlessness.
Start to change your reactions and usual compliance to their demands / requests / suggestions.
Become more demonstrative around your wants and needs.
Changing yourself slowly will get YOU used to standing up for your Values.
Expect Respect for You and take responsibility for obtaining that Respect.
Expecting them to change first will leave you waiting for a long time, take responsibility for making those changes yourself.
Seek help from an outsider if you are unable to turn this around .
