Decide to stop feeling sorry for yourself and focus on making your own life worthwhile.
Make the effort to contact old friends and arrange outings so you can make new friends.
Be prepared to ‘force’ yourself to do things you don’t really want to do.
Throw yourself into a project (decorating, amateur dramatics, a health regime) to create a distraction.
Work out a method of keeping in touch with your daughter on a regular basis.
Accept that life moves on, it just a natural progression.
